In-District Transfer Requests will be Accepted January 14-28, 2019

Dear Families,
With the opening of Kamiak Elementary in fall of 2019, we will go from 3 to 4 elementary schools. In April of 2018 our board approved new attendance areas. This will impact many of our families, with many of our students moving to different schools this fall. We hope to make this transition as positive and seamless as possible!

We have an exciting new tool on our website to help families determine which school their students will attend in the fall. The Find My School Application can be used to look up addresses and see where students will attend starting in fall of 2019. Check it out!

What do I need to do to transition my student to their new school?
Many students will be moving with their neighbors to a new school! This is an exciting time for families, and  in the coming months we will have school tours and welcome events for students moving schools! Families of students that will be moving to a “new” school will receive welcome packets in the mail this spring. We will take care of transferring your student’s records!

 

What if a parent wishes to have their student remain in their current school, and not move to their 2019-2020 assigned school?
Parents wishing to have their student(s) attend a school other than their assigned school will need to complete an in-district transfer request form. We will be accepting in-district student transfer forms for those students impacted by the newly established elementary attendance areas between January 14-28, 2019. Applications received during this period will be considered and parents notified prior to February 28, 2019. Space availability may be limited and if we cannot accommodate all requests received, a lottery process will be followed.

 

In-District transfer applications received after January 28, 2019 will be reviewed in August prior to the start of a school year. Approval will be based on school capacity and may also include consideration of IEP/504 or other circumstances.

 

All In-District Transfer Request Forms should be submitted to the district office (240 SE Dexter Street) or emailed to Lani DeBuhr (ldebuhr@psd267.org). Please do not send forms to your student’s school.
