One School, One Book - Title I Family Engagement Reading Activity

Reminder- Title I Family Engagement Reading Activity has Began
Posted on 03/03/2022

The Jefferson Elementary School Title I Family Engagement reading activity, One School, One Book, begins Wednesday, March 2, 2022, which also happens on National Read Across America Day.

Your child will bring home a copy of the book, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, that our entire school community will be reading together each evening for the next 20 school days.  The goal of this activity is to have a parent read aloud and discuss the book with their child each evening.

Most scheduled daily readings should take approximately 15 minutes. In the event that you’re unable to read aloud to your child on a particular evening a WSU student-athlete will read the scheduled chapter.  To access each of the recorded chapters being read aloud by a WSU student-athlete please click on the following link:;!!JmPEgBY0HMszNaDT!8uiKYxS0UkYwpxRf5hP8Qyq47hn2tDhS-rlFM07BEef2lDqCG93Zd05FJkGusTZ1dEvLNA$

This link will stay the same for the duration of this family reading event.

Your child will be encouraged to visit the recording of the WSU student-athlete even after you’ve had an opportunity to read the chapter(s) aloud to your child.  All of the recordings will remain at this link so your child will have multiple opportunities to go and re-watch recordings as many times as they wish.

If your child did not bring home a copy of Where the Moon Meets the Mountain, please contact your child’s teacher.

Thank you for participating with your child in this awesome school-wide Title I Family Engagement reading event.  I can’t wait to hear the various comments that our students will have.

A special thank you to Nick Garner, WSU Student-Athlete Development & Alumni Engagement Coordinator, for all of his work to arrange, record and post recordings of WSU student-athletes reading aloud to our students AND to the student-athletes for volunteering to participate in this event to promote family reading. Greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Jim L. Bruce, Principal
